Scoil Bhríde is situated in Kilcruttin, Tullamore. It was opened in 1961 to replace the old St.Brigids School, in St. Brigid's Place.
Rev. Fr. Mooney C.C. was the manager of St. Brigid's who got the new building under way but he had been transferred to Kilcormac, by the time the new school was opened. Rev. Fr. Carey was the first manager of Scoil Bhríde. Rev. Fr. J.Gleeson became the next manager; it was during his time in office that the Board of Management was set up. The other chairmen of the boards were Very Rev. Fr.Fallon P.P. Rev. T. Mullen C. C. Fr. C Savage C. C. Rev.D. Farrell C.C. Rev. M. Lynn C. C. Very Rev. W. Cleary. P. P.,Fr. John Nally C.C., Mr. Roger Neville.
The first Principal of the school was Mr. W. Ennis. After his death in 1977, Mr. G. Harrison became principal. When he left in 1979 to become a schools inspector Mr.E. Flynn, took over as principal. On Mr. Flynn's retirement in 1991 Mr. C. Mc Mahon was appointed principal of the school. On Mr C Mc Mahon's retirement in 2018 Ms D. Sheridan was appointed principal of the school.
We have our own secretarial and care taking staff. In 2006, Scoil Bhríde was designated as a DEIS (band two) school.
Scoil Bhríde is a senior boys school. Pupils transfer here from Scoil Mhuire after completing first class. The school caters for boys living south of the Grand Canal and serves the following areas: Pearse Park, O` Molloy Street, Marian Place, Kilbride Street, Patrick Street, Church Street, Whitehall Estate, New Road, Clonminch, St. Columba`s Place. Tara Crescent, Spollenstown, Charleville Road, Charleville View, O`Moore Street, Cormac Street, High Street. It also serves the educational needs of boys in other estates north of the canal. These are mostly newcomer children.
The building is a two-storey structure. There are five classrooms(including an IT room), toilets, offices and assembly hall on the ground floor. On the first floor there are five classrooms, two resource classrooms, toilets and staff room.
