Section A General Information

General Introduction
This enrolment policy is being set out in accordance with the provisions of the Educational Act (1998). The Board of Management trusts that by so doing parents will be assisted in relation to enrolment matters. The chairperson of the Board of Management, Mr. Roger Neville. Woldingham, Charleville Road, Tullamore, and the principal teacher Mr. Ciarán Mc Mahon.Scoil Bhríde, Kilcruttin, Tullamore will be happy to clarify any further matters arising from the policy.

Bishop Michael Smith is the Patron.
Principal, 8 Class Teachers, 2 Special Needs Teachers, 3 Resource Teachers.

Urban all Boys Senior National School, Second class to Sixth class.

The school depends on the grants and teacher resources provide by the Department of Education and Science and it operates within the regulations as laid down, and from time to time, by the Department. School policy adheres to the resources and funding available.
The school follows the curricular programmes prescribed by the Department of Education and Science, which may be amended from time to time, in accordance with Section 9 and 30 of the Educational Act (1998).
Within this context and parameters of Department regulations and programmes, the rights of the patron are set out in the Educational Act (1998), and the funding and resources available.

In this Enrolment Policy the school supports the principles of:

Inclusiveness, particularly with reference to the enrolment of children with a disability or other Special Needs.
Equality of access and participation in school
Parental choice in relation to enrolment.
Respect for diversity of values, beliefs, traditions, languages and ways of life in society.

School opens at 9.20am and closes at 3.00pm. The school year consists of 183 days and is divided into three terms, for further information refer to School Routines and School Plan.

Section B Enrolment Procedures

Application Procedure

The school in the third term will advertise enrolment by way of local media, parish bulletin and general communication with other schools. And Enrolment Form is made available to parents on a selected day.
Certain information will be required when children are being enrolled. The information is as follows:

Pupils name, age and address,
Names and address of pupil’s parents/guardians,
Contact telephone numbers,
Contact telephone number in case of emergency,
Details of any medical condition, which the school should be aware of,
Religion,
Previous school attended, and reason for transfer, if applicable;
Any other relevant information (including any such further information as may be prescribed under the Education Welfare Act (2000)
As a general principle and in so far as practicable having regard to the school’s enrolment policy, children will be enrolled on application, providing that there is space available. In relation to class size and class provisions and/or any other relevant requirements concerning accommodation, including physical space and the health and welfare of children, the Board will have regard to relevant Department of Education and Science Guidelines. In respect of enrolment application the following will be considered by the Board,
` Are the siblings of the proposed new entrant already in the school?
Ages of the children
Parish boundaries/ Diocesan Policies
Children of staff members
First come, first served
Is there space available?
